Wondering Who is Behind the Scenes?

This week, I have decided to take a brief step away from all the recipes and creative food brainstorming.

As we are celebrating the 7 month birthday of our new blog, it has come to my attention our followers may be curious as to who is behind all this caramelized sugar stuff.

Why don’t I start by telling a quick story?

About 10 months ago, I was sitting at a softball game, watching my younger sister play. It was a scorching summer day, and an old teammate and I began reminiscing about all the games we played on this same field. My friend sighed, “Those were the good days Taylor”.

Suddenly, someone say, “Oh, so you’re the Taylor people tell me about.” Caught totally off guard, I was not sure how to respond to that statement. I slowly turned to my left, and saw a friendly smile and an outreached hand. “Hi, I’m Greg. I’ve heard great things about you.” As I smiled in relief and wiped the perspiration from my brow, it took all but five minutes to realize this was a day I would never forget.

Have you ever met someone for the first time, and surprisingly feel like you’ve known them for years? Well that is exactly how I felt once I met Greg.

Before I knew it, I was working or him, learning about products and terms I didn’t know existed, starting a blog and now, sharing this story with all of you.

Before being introduced to Food Science, I was completely oblivious to the process of product development. The intricate steps and creative minds that are involved in creating foods we bring into our homes and share with loved ones are remarkable.

Enterprise Food Products and Versatile Products & Ingredients present great opportunities for me, but the people I am surrounded by every day are even more inspiring.

It only feels right to give you our small, but mighty Caramelized Sugar Experts Starting Line Up in memory of the day I was first introduced to Caramelized Sugar.

Behind the Keyboard.desk

That would be me. My name is Taylor Corretjer and I am managing the social media, and of course, this super fun blog. I am fortunate enough to have a mentor like Greg, as I begin to make steps into sales for these great companies. Gotta’ learn from the best to the the best, right?

Behind the Desk.

“MVP! MVP! MVP!” – Do you hear that? It is my pleasure to introduce Debbie Flatley everybody – this woman literally knows everything! Whether I’m asking “What’s that show called? or “What’s the starting usage rate for our 75/180-01 Caramelized Sugar Syrup?” she ALWAYS has the answer. Best part of that, it is always the right answer! Simply put, Debbie keeps this office in line. Watching how effectively she assists customers is only one of the many skills she has mastered. Her motherly ways grace the office in the most delightful way and she never fails to make everyone laugh.

Behind the samples.

Ralph Martinez. Back in his day, you could find him fighting crime and making the world a better place. Although he has hung up his superhero cape (for now), the world continues to look brighter with him around. Here at EFP and VPI we hold very high standards when it comes to our customers. As a huge contribution, Ralph makes sure all our customers receive their requested samples as fast as possible.

Behind it all.

Founder and Owner, Greg D’Auria. I think he deserves the title of our “#3 Power hitter”. His specialty – driving in runs. A man of many stories, it is hard to find a place he hasn’t been or a person he hasn’t met. Greg is an extremely successful, knowledgeable business man who has been kind enough to give me such an opportunity.

I could not imagine our office any other way. It is a true blessing to be able to work with such amazing individuals every day. The smiles and laughs that fill this office cause the days to fly by. In turn, work doesn’t really feel like “work”.

As I sit and write to you all, I allow my mind to drift and think about what is to come. I begin to feel this comforting, warm feeling. Who knows, it could be because of the June sun, or maybe it is because I am exactly where I should be.

Either way, I cannot possibly express enough gratitude for the road presented in front of me.
